Help tomorrow’s young entrepreneurs.

Get involved with the Lion Foundation Young Enterprise Scheme (YES), a programme that encourages innovation and provides foundation business skills for the next generation of business leaders.

The YES journey

Year 12 and 13 students create their own unique product or service, form a YES business at the start of the school year, and take it to market.

Throughout the year, they attend events that mirror the process start-up businesses go through – including developing business and marketing plans, receiving guidance and mentoring from business people, and presenting their ideas to a live audience at the Dragon’s Den events.

For all students, the business knowledge they develop is supplemented by skills in teamwork, communication, problem-solving, negotiation, and decision making.

Students learn by experiencing the value of innovative thinking and develop enterprising attributes. YES is an incredible learning experience that thousands of students participate in each year.

Reasoning for YES sponsorship/donation for Members

This is a voluntary sponsorship of the YES programme which is noted on our invoicing as: to assist us to run a successful programme for our future entrepreneurs.  This is run in the Year 12 and Year 13 of 16 schools within our region, equating to approximately 490 students and 109 teams.

To clarify this donation is utilised for the following:

  • To support the YES teams with their pitches
  • To provide judging for YES teams regionally
  • To ensure that we have motivational guest speaks for the regional awards
  • Provide sales training to the YES teams
  • Support the YES challenges throughout the year
  • Advertising and marketing of YES yearly events
  • Support the yearly Farmers Market event for YES teams

The Lion Foundation Young Enterprise Scheme can be used to deliver the following qualification pathways:

  • Business Studies Achievement Standards (Levels 2 and 3)
  • YE Certificate (24 credit equivalents at Level 3)
