Why E4E?

Education in the 21st century must go beyond the simple acquisition of knowledge and provide students with realistic and practical applications of their learning.

E4E is about giving young people the opportunity to develop the skills, competencies, understandings and attributes which will equip them to be innovative and to identify, create, initiate and successfully manage personal, business, work and community opportunities.

Students need to recognise they need to commit to lifelong learning and developing their capabilities. They need to be skilled and educated, able to contribute fully to communities (local, national & global) and meet the changing needs of the workplace and the economy.

The Values and Key Competencies, as set out in the New Zealand Curriculum, gain increasing significance for students as they appreciate that these are requirements they will need for successful living & working.

Values & Key Competences:

  • thinking
  • using language, symbols and texts
  • managing self
  • relating to others
  • participating and contributing
