The Hawke’s Bay Chamber of Commerce is hosting the following events:
Meeting with P.R.C. Ambassador
H.E. Ambassador Zhang Limin of the People’s Republic of China will be in Hawke’s Bay on Monday March 8 to launch a Hawke’s Bay branch of the China NZ Business Council ( CANZBC). CANZBC is Nationally based and is there to facilitate trade between NZ and China. It offers advice, legal matters, guidance, and information etc.
The ambassador will also open a photographic exhibition celebrating 60 years of the P.R.C. and be encouraging mandarin language learning in local schools
As part of his trip here he wishes to informally meet business representatives trading or intending to trade with China.
The visit has been arranged through Napier City Council who jointly with the Chamber can offer pre-paid membership (1 year) to the first 20 Businesses who join the HB Branch CANZBC ($100+GST).

Breakfast - Sir Peter Blake Trust
The breakfast has been confirmed for Wednesday March 10 2010 with Sir Ron Carter, Chairman of the Trust’s Award Selection Panel as the guest speaker & Mike Sabin , a 2008 Sir Peter Blake Emerging Leader Award Winner as the 2nd speaker. Mike is a former police inspector whose experiences in that role led him to found MethCon Group, a specialist company which provides drug education, advice & specific training programmes relating to methamphetamine & other addictive drugs.
This will be an inspiring breakfast event with one of New Zealand’s leading business people and major exporter of professional services. The Breakfast is to launch the opening of nominations for the 2010 Sir Peter Blake Leadership Awards.

Statistics New Zealand - new mapping tool for SME's
Come and learn about the new business mapping tool called 'Business Toolbox'. This is now released and is specifically aimed at SME's. It will enable businesses to get a feel for their market and industry situation at a very detailed geographic level.
This new interactive general mapping tool using census data is included at very detailed geographic levels. This tool is going to be really helpful for everyone to get a better understanding how the statistical areas are organised and then to easily access the corresponding social and demographic data to drive your marketing and business planning.
